Leadership development is integral to the academic and student life programs at Stuart Hall. We believe every student can be a leader by contributing to campus life, shaping school culture, and mentoring new community members. To foster these skills, senior residential students and members of the Student Government Association participated in a two-day training program before the start of the school year.
Charlotte '25, a returning boarder from Da Nang, Vietnam, found the training valuable for voicing her thoughts on improving residential life and ensuring new boarders have a smooth transition. Participants also focused on understanding leadership qualities, setting goals for the year, and recognizing their impact on the school community.
Student Government Association members appreciated the opportunity to plan collaborative initiatives, review their constitution, and gain insights from Head of School Jason Coady. Margaret '30 highlighted the importance of providing a voice for middle school students, while Mahad '27 emphasized the value of role modeling for the entire student body.
“Beyond providing a welcoming environment for boarding students, our job as resident assistants is to help ensure that everyone knows and understands dorm rules and expectations so that we can all live together safely and peacefully.”

Other opportunities for students to develop leadership skills include the Honor Council, Student Activities Team, and Student Admissions Ambassadors. Leading on campus allows students to cultivate competence, self-confidence, self-awareness, and self-motivation, ensuring they become well-rounded, capable leaders of tomorrow.
