235 West Frederick Street, Staunton Virginia

The Music Academy at Stuart Hall School is connected to Stuart Hall, but serves students from schools across the Valley and central Virginia. Private instruction with experienced instructors and options for 30, 45, or 60 minutes, make The Music Academy the premiere music instruction program for students PreK- 12.

Weekly lessons are offered in guitar, piano, and voice, as well as brass and woodwind band instruments.

Our Program

We strive to deliver a measurable progress in each student by identifying accessible goals and working incrementally to attain them throughout each semester of study. For example, a high school trumpet player would like to advance to a better chair placement in their school band, or perhaps pass the audition into District Band. Our instruction establishes not only these goals, but also the steps necessary to achieve them. We offer our weekly measurements of progress in the form of progress reports to help the student better understand not only where they are, but where they have grown from. We pair this method with excellent instruction from expert teachers who have performed and taught their instruments for years.

Music in a Private Lesson Setting

The individual attention given to each student during a private lesson ensures progress, eliminates time wasted making mistakes that could be missed without direct teacher interaction, and provides consistent focus on areas of concern for the student. A private lesson setting is the only setting where these issues can be monitored and instruction catered to the individual student. There are emotional and psychological benefits that come from developing a rapport with a teacher. These include eliminating stress of having others hear your mistakes and enjoying the direct attention of a trained professional teacher.

All Dedicated Musicians — Regardless of Skill Level — Are Welcome!

Anyone dedicated to the craft and art of their instrument or voice is invited to register for lessons here, however most of our students will come from school-aged youth who are playing or singing in ensembles during school and preparing for music as a part of their college experience in the future. Some students will have more recreational goals, others will have preparatory goals for auditions and performance opportunities. All are welcome!

Do you want to improve your ability playing an instrument or singing?

Do you have a particular goal in mind?

Do you have the desire to play for enjoyment only?

Invest in yourself, and see the return on your money and your time through the enjoyment you will have and the achievements you can make by taking private lessons at The Music Academy at Stuart Hall School.
