Who's leading the team?

 

David Baker, Head Cross Country Coach

David Baker enters his 5th year of coaching cross-country and track & field. With experience at all levels, from middle school to university, Baker has guided teams to league championships and has helped lead many runners to reach top honors, including a Division III national champion in the 3,000m steeplechase. 

Baker has Division III university experience as a distance runner and still holds high school records in the 2-mile (9:46) and other running events. His coaching philosophy centers around inspirational team unity with an emphasis on how athletics benefit academics. David is a practicing artist and holds an M.F.A. in Visual Art from Washington University in St. Louis and a B.F.A. from Ohio University. He is on the faculty at Stuart Hall, teaching Upper School art classes.

This past Saturday, Freshman cross-country runner Lucy Gingerelli secured an impressive 6th place finish at the Wilson Memorial Cross-Country meet, clocking in at an impressive 28.57 time for the 5K race. This meet featured more than a dozen schools and institutions from our local area, with over 100 racers competing.  

A huge congratulations to Lucy and the entire team! We're so excited to see where the remainder of the season takes you.
