Meet The Admission Team

Cary Dahl, Director of Special Projects


Cary is the mother of three Stuart Hall students/alum and was chair of the Admissions and Marketing committee on the Board of Governors prior to taking her position. She has a Masters Degree in Economics from NYU, worked as an economic analyst in the Corporate Planning Department of Exxon International, and ran her own insurance and financial planning business. Most recently, Cary has been Board Chair at the Community Foundation, EVACE International, and several church committees.



Samantha Hughes, Director of International Engagement


Samantha is the primary contact for Middle and Upper School admission. She joined the Admission team after several years as the Associate Director of Admissions for Mary Baldwin College. Samantha brings with her a wealth of knowledge in collegiate admissions, including recruitment, new program marketing, student evaluation, student assessment, and international admissions counseling. A native of Augusta County, she holds a degree in political science from Mary Baldwin University. Samantha's oldest daughter is a student at the Middle School and her two youngest daughters are students at the Lower School.



Tanya Farrell, Director of Parent Engagement

 

Tanya Farrell is the primary contact for Lower School admission. She has two decades of experience in communications, with expertise in media and community relations, publication development, financial and donor relations, and event management. Tanya joined the Admission team in 2013 but has been a member of the Stuart Hall community since 2009 when her older son, Charlie '22, entered Kindergarten at the Lower School. Her younger son, Henry '25, is also a Stuart Hall student. While her career has taken her from New York City to San Francisco, she has proudly called Staunton home for the past 13 years. Tanya holds a B.A. in Communications from Xavier University.

 

Courtney Miller, Enrollment Assistant


Courtney maintains the daily operations of our Admissions department while seamlessly facilitating completion of the application and enrollment process for future and current Stuart Hall families. She has proudly called the Shenandoah Valley her home for the past 24 years, growing up in Lexington, Virginia then later starting a family of her own in Staunton. Over the course of her career she has held several Marketing positions, with her most recent role overseeing the development and dissemination of content to college-aged students. Her background in student driven industries encouraged her to make the transition to STU. She brings with her notable prowess in marketing strategy, communications, event planning, and data management.
