Upper Elementary
Grade 5: beyond core content
Upper Elementary years are a time to master the academic skills students will need in middle school, while retaining the sheer joy of learning. Stuart Hall's caring, experienced teachers provide the opportunity for students to thrive while working in a hands-on, interdisciplinary, and project-based environment. Children are nurtured and inspired to be well-rounded successful students who are prepared for engaged lives of intellectual curiosity, creativity, and contribution.
Hallmarks of our Upper Elementary experience include:
- Project-based, hands-on learning
- Leadership and Service Learning programs that provide opportunities for all students
- Art, Music, Physical Education, and Spanish
- Technology that includes basic computer skills, coding, and digital citizenship
Just as the Upper and Middle School programs are based on the six Stuart Hall graduate goals, the 5th grade curriculum is guided by the age-appropriate Habits of Mind. This solid foundation helps students experience a smooth transition from Upper Elementary to Middle Years, while instilling a lifetime love of learning, leadership, integrity, and civic engagement.
