Academics

Curiosity, Creativity, Contribution

Our Education

Stuart Hall School offers a challenging and supportive education for students in grades 6–12, designed to instill a solid academic foundation in every student.

Students are encouraged to think critically and independently while developing a natural intellectual curiosity and confidence. Simultaneously, our program fosters a respect for and appreciation of community, with an emphasis on leadership, honor, creativity, global engagement, well-being, and service.

On a visit to Stuart Hall School, you will observe active listening, engaged discussion, individual work, and group collaboration. Each of our classrooms is dynamic and focused, with an average class size of less than 15 students, and a student-teacher ratio of 8:1. Our teachers encourage intellectual risks, develop a nurturing environment in which to explore new ideas, and ask students to break free from uniform, easy answers. In the words of one alumna that echoed many others on a recent survey, “The heart and soul of the school was the freedom to explore new ideas with teachers and a diverse group of friends.”

STUART HALL ACADEMIC PROGRAMS

A graduating senior recently said, "Stuart Hall makes you great at what you're good at." The sentiment rings true throughout our curriculum, from our youngest learners in sixth grade all the way to graduation. Our Mastery Based Learning program is designed to elicit excellence from each student in their areas of strength and interest, while providing support and encouragement to explore new areas for growth and development. Our Stuart Hall Graduate Goals are the outcomes of our education, the skills to be mastered before a student launches into life beyond high school.

Whether through our small class sizes, emphasis on project-based learning, or our supportive faculty, students graduate from Stuart Hall School empowered to excel in college and beyond as lifelong learners.

In today's world, simply succeeding is not enough. Students are asked to be all they can be and more. We are told often by admission officers at top schools that the strength of our academic program and unique opportunities for leadership contribute to our list of college acceptances.

National Merit Finalists

Of the 36 graduates in the Class of 2022,  Stuart Hall had TWO National Merit Finalists. Our students are also consistently selected for academic scholarships to the schools of their choice.
