Gray Upper School Welcome

Welcome to Stuart Hall Upper School! At STU, our motto is Mind, Body, Heart, and Spirit.  We don’t just say it, we live it.

Mind. One-hundred percent college acceptances and standardized scores on the SAT, ACT, and Advanced Placement tests above both state and national averages say it all. Courses taught by experts who are passionate and knowledgeable about their content areas create a strong college preparatory curriculum for our students. Advanced Placement, Mary Baldwin College Dual Enrollment, and honors credit courses are possible for all students. Our arts emphasis program affords students the opportunity for specialized diplomas in visual arts, theatre, and music.

Body. Our “no cut” sports program ranges from club sports to tournament championship teams. Three seasons, which include soccer, basketball, volleyball, and cheering at the varsity level, provide year-long involvement. Club sports, such as running and golf, complement interscholastic options.

Heart. Advisory and service projects enrich our students and build strong relationships. Interacting in small advisory groups, students form long-lasting relationships with teachers and classmates. Students also explore their own passions, cultivate interests, and engage the school community in service projects of their choosing.

Spirit. Traditions, bi-weekly chapel services, Senior Chapel Talks, and morning assemblies provide opportunities to connect and celebrate our school, our students, and our community on a regular basis. Our Honor and Conduct Codes form the foundation for our community, in which respect for diversity of cultures and individual interests is a common thread.

Stuart Hall is a community where individuals are known and loved; a community of learners engaged in lively discussion and debate; a community of impassioned citizens actively seeking to make a difference in their school, their local areas, and their world.  We look forward to your visit and the opportunity to see how you might fit into our community.

Sincerely,

Christiana Holyer
