Stuart Hall welcomes international students, and has current representation from five continents; our school embraces diversity, and we value the opportunity to bring students of different backgrounds together to learn from one another. At Stuart Hall School, we believe a liberal education is the best possible preparation for lives of high accomplishment in a complex, dynamic, diverse, and global world—a world where the leaders will be those who comfortably and regularly cross the borders of culture, belief, language, and knowledge. Stuart Hall students must be fully engaged in the world as those who make a positive difference.
The English as a Second Language (ESL) program at Stuart Hall School is unique among boarding programs. For those whose first language is not English, our enrichment programs, personalized instruction, and immersion experience help students prepare for a rigorous academic future and a lifetime of global engagement.
Based on testing results, students are placed in one of three ESL classes that best meets their individual needs: ESL 1, ESL Proficiency or ESL Transition. ESL 1 is designed for first year international students who need additional practice in grammar, reading, writing, listening and speaking. ESL Proficiency helps students explore more sophisticated forms of preparatory school writing and reading. ESL Transition serves as a bridge betweeen mainstream classes and ESL 1 or ESL Proficiency.
Stuart Hall provides an exceptional education for international students. In addition, we offer boarding for students in grades 8-12.
