Academic Dean

Stuart Hall School seeks an Academic Dean to join the Administrative Team to begin work in the 2014-2015 academic year. The Academic Dean reports to the Head of School and is responsible for overseeing the following areas: College Counselor/Registrar; Learning Resources/Library; Department Chairs/Area of Excellence Chairs; Faculty; Technology Integration; and ESL.

Key position responsibilities will include: analyzing and using student assessment data to drive program improvements and ensure academic excellence; observing, supervising, and helping evaluate the faculty in the development and implementation of curriculum; and, planning, developing, and implementing professional development opportunities that will enable our faculty to continue to grow in their ability to use best practices in teaching.

Candidates should possess significant teaching and administrative experience and embrace the School's mission. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage effectively with children, parents and faculty. Proven leadership skills and knowledge of best practices in independent education is essential, as are excellent oral and written communication skills. A master’s degree and independent school experience are preferred.

Residence Life Coordinator

Stuart Hall School seeks a Residence Life Coordinator to begin work in the 2014-2015 academic year. The Residence Life Coordinator reports to the Director of Staunton Campus Student Life.  This position serves as the primary liaison between the Director of Staunton Campus Student Life, boarding students, parents of boarding students, and On-Campus Faculty. The successful candidate will live on campus and will have overall responsibility for issues relating to the well-being of boarding students—mind, body, heart and spirit. Key position responsibilities include: establishing and maintaining a residential culture where students feel safe, healthy, supported, and learn to respect others, value differences, take responsibility for their actions and exercise leadership; providing for the overall social and emotional support of middle and high school girls in the boarding program, including students from different cultural, socio-economical and geographic backgrounds; coordinating special programs and community service opportunities for boarding students; managing daily operations of the residence halls and school store; assisting with boarding student orientation; and, in conjunction with the Director of Staunton Campus Student Life, recruit, interview, hire, train, and supervise faculty residential staff and student leaders.

The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage effectively with all campus constituencies. Experience and knowledge of best practices in independent education/school life is desired, as are strong oral and written communication skills.

Substitute Teachers for the 2013-2014 School Year

Stuart Hall School, a co-ed Pre-K-12 Episcopal school on two campuses in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia (Staunton and Verona), is seeking qualified substitute teachers at all levels and for all subjects for the 13-14 school year.  Applicants should be both reliable and punctual and should possess a love of children, a command in the classroom, a sense of humor, and a team approach. Coaching and Team Management

Stuart Hall School offers interscholastic sports for boys and girls including volleyball, soccer, basketball, cross country, and golf. We accept resumes for current and future coaching and game day management positions, both part-time or in conjunction with teaching and staff positions.
